Magazine staff are people that have contracts with the magazine company whereas freelancers are people that have no permanent place of work they move from project to project.

What the roles above do in the magazine production.

Photographers are the people that take photographs for the magazine to use and edit and put with the article they have. Copy proofreaders are the people who will check the documents for simple and complex errors such as spelling mistakes, grammar errors. They also measure spacing and margins, also control placement of headlines, articles and photos. Sub editors are the people that are responsible for ensuring the correct grammar, spelling, house style and tone of the published work. Editors are the people that do the planning content and execute the overall style of magazine issues. Journalists are the people that research, write and edit stories, features and articles for use. Art directors are the people who is responsible for the visual style and images in the magazine. Assistants are the people who are responsible for supporting the editor in chief or editor at large of the magazine. Overall there to be supportive, but also authoritative in that what they can oversee their own editorial section.

There are a lot of freelancers now it is only a few members of staff that are permanent. The permanent staff would most likely be editors, printing staff and sub editors. The freelancers in the magazine would be photographers and journalists. 

The main items of hardware and software needed for magazine production.

The main items of hardware that would be needed for a magazine production are a digital camera, printers, laptops and computers. The main items of software that would be needed for a magazine production are word processor, publishing software and photoshop. The magazine production would need a digital camera is to take pictures and then use the pictures in the articles they will right. A magazine production would need a laptops and computers to write articles, to edit the pictures and lots of other important things that need to be done technically. A magazine production would need word processor to write their articles. A magazine production would need publishing software to position and decide where the article is going to be with the pictures. A magazine production would need photoshop to manipulate the picture whether that be to add a background to a green screen or to edit someone body.

The regulation, legal and ethical considerations for a magazine are as it states on the IPSO website are accuracy, privacy, harassment, intrusion into grief or shock, reporting suicide, children, children in sex cases, hospitals, reporting crime, clandestine devices and subterfuge, victims of sexual assault, discrimination, financial journalism, confidential sources, witness payments in criminal trails and payment to criminals. These are all headings for categories which have much more detail than just the headlines. Also letter are also used to request permission to take picture in a certain place at a certain time.
