Unions for personnel
Trade unions is an organisation made up of people, the aim of a trade union is to protect and get higher pay for the people they represent. The three main trade unions for film or media based people are Equity, BECTU and PACT these three trade unions represent different types of jobs and people.
Equity represents actors or actresses and protects them and if an actor or actress has an issue with being paid for example their trade union will step in and negotiate the issue.
BECTU represents people such as technicians, screenplay writers and other crew the trade union will look after them if any issue were brought about with their pay or health and safety.
PACT represents freelance producers who jump from project to project the PACT union will protect its members and if any issues were brought to light then they would have there union rep sort out the issue, sometimes as far as court.

The working with animals legal requirements are that the production will only be able to source animals that are trained to meet the production requirements. When filming with animals, the production needs to agree to follow either the RSPCA Guidelines for the Use of Animals in the Audio- Visual Industry or the PAWSI Code, Guidelines and Minimum Standards for the Welfare of Animals in the Audio Visual Industries.
The health and safety legal requirements are that the production has to by the law make a good and safe working place for its employees and that it is maintained. However people still do get injury sometimes such as Buster Keaton suffered a fractured neck during the making of Sherlock Jr in 1924.
The insurance legal requirements are that by the Borough Film Service will show the insurance that the production has for its cast and crew.
Minimum pay in the UK for apprentice it would be £3.70 an hour, for someone under the age of 18 it would be £4.20 an hour, for someone from the age 18 to 20 it would be £5.90 an hour, for someone from the age of 21 to 24 it is £7.38 an hour and then from the age of 25 and over it is £7.83 an hour. However actor may get paid a day rather than an hour, for a day worth of work it maybe hundreds of pounds just for a day.

MCPS stands for Mechanical Copyright Protection Society. MCPS only pay royalties to members when their music is copied as physical products for example a DVD or CD, streamed or downloaded and used in TV,film or radio.
PRS stands for Performing Right Society. PRS only pay royalties members when they work in broadcast on TV or radio, performed or played in public whether that be live or through a recording and streamed or downloaded.
Copyright is there to protect original work of authorship which include the following literary, dramatic, musical and artistic work. Copyright doesn't protect facts, ideas,systems or methods of operation, although it does protect the way it is expressed. The purpose of Copyright is to promote the progress if useful arts and science by protecting the exclusive right of authors and inventors to benefit from their works or authorship.

The working with children legal requirements are that actors or actresses that are children under the age of 16 years old this child requires a Child
Performance Licence. The amount of hours that i child can work is based on their age. The Production must check the
permitted working hours with the
relevant Education Welfare Service.
